Antique Equestrian Brass and Mother of Pearl Horse Leg/Horseshoe Watch Fob
$400.00
Antique Equestrian Brass and Mother of Pearl Horse Leg/Horseshoe Watch Fob-
A fob can be a small ornament suspended from a pocket watch chain. It is sometimes purely decorative, sometimes utilitarian, like a seal or key used to wind a watch. However, a link or mesh chain or a length of ribbon used to suspend such an ornament was also called a fob back in the day. These elongated fobs also dangled from a chain, and some held charms on the end. Developed around the 1770s, alongside the invention of pocket watches, fobs were worn by both men and women, attached at the waist or to a belt originally. I am guessing this piece dates to Victorian era app. 1880. I am in love with the look of this fob. The shiny mother of pearl with the brass rivets and wire holding a horse carved horse leg. Perfect accessory for a horse or watch collector. This fob will add a classy touch to any chain or pocket watch.
-Brass
-Measures 4 1/4 " x 1 "
-Mother of pearl and bone
-Great condition
