Vintage Sterling Silver Turquoise Swirl Ring

$60.00
Vintage Sterling Silver Turquoise Swirl Ring-
This turquoise ring has a great look. It reminds more of the Hopi style of Native American jewelry making. I love the contrast of the dark background against the silver swirl design. The color of the stones really pops like a robins egg blue! and I love the beaded edging on either side. It is the traditional birthstone for December and the gemstone for the 11th anniversary. Adored for centuries, Turquoise rocks have been carved and set into everything from royal thrones and daggers to jewelry and cups. The Egyptians believed the Turquoise crystal meaning brought good fortune and made them invulnerable. They carved the stone into symbolic jewelry and statues, such as their scarab pectorals.
Use of the Turquoise meaning dates as far back as 5500 B.C., when it was believed to prevent accidents and cure diseases of the head and the heart. One legend suggests that throwing a piece of Turquoise into a river will bring rain.
The Turquoise crystal meaning was known as a sacred stone to many Native Americans. Medicine men used Turquoise in their healing practices. Often carved into the shape of animals, Turquoise was placed in tombs, believed to guard the dead and invite protective spirits.
