Vintage Turquoise and Sterling Silver Pendant

$55.00
Vintage Turquoise and Sterling Silver Pendant-
This sterling silver pendant is unisex and would make a great piece for layering or worn alone. The piece is reminds me of a Celtic sword or upside down cross. The oval shaped Turquoise is accented by roped detail work.
The origin of the upside down cross symbol comes from the belief that Peter the Apostle was crucified upside down, as told by Origen of Alexandria. The tradition first appears in the "Martyrdom of Peter", a fragmented text found in, but possibly predating, the apocryphal Acts of Peter, which was written no later than 200 A.D. It is believed that Peter requested this form of crucifixion as he felt he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. As such, some Catholics use this cross as a symbol of humility and unworthiness in comparison to Jesus.

-Sterling silver
-Pendant measures 2 " x 1 " in size
-Genuine cabochon Turquoise measures app. 10 mm. x 7 mm.
-Textured base metal chain measures 24 " with spring ring clasp
